When In-Between Moments Become a Long Transition, We Can Still Choose Positive Action!
So many in-between moments brighten our days.
- A flower is most fragrant between its full bloom and falling petals.
- Movies are exciting between the plot and the final scene.
- Skies burst with brushstrokes of color between dawn and sunrise.
But let’s face it, not all in-between moments feel extraordinary. They can linger and become a long transition–too long.
Living in Transition
Seasons of life will bring transition and change like this current pandemic. Living between what was and the unknown is challenging, and we feel vulnerable. So what do we do?
The world competes for our attention pulling us here and there. We exert human effort to make plans, seek solutions, and protect what means the most to us.
But the outcome is still an untold story with twists and turns that can catch us off guard. We soon realize we’ve held an allusion of security. We may not be able to control external circumstances, but we can control how we respond.
I’ve had to avoid much outside noise because I wanted to determine my next best steps. I catch news highlights and listen to a few thought leaders, but that’s it. So instead, I lean on God to help me learn from each transition, and I try to make the most out of today because today is a gift.
When we can’t see what’s ahead, it can be hard to make the most of each day. I get it. I’ve been there too.
Transitions become opportunities to build resilience and remain productive.
Seven Tips to Make The Most Out of These Quarantine Days.
1. Get Enough Sleep
Rest will build your immune system. In addition, you’ll have more clarity and creativity when you’re well-rested.
2. Break Down Large Projects
Use this time to tackle those big work projects without feeling overwhelmed.
3. Find Your Peak Time of Day
Find and protect your natural work rhythm. Schedule your productive time around your customized schedule.
4. Start a done list
I love to-do lists, do-not-do lists, and creating “done” lists. Write down what you’ve accomplished each day. The process will release endorphins, which are natural pain and stress-fighting hormones.
5. Be kind to yourself
If you’ve been putting things off, stop beating yourself up. Remember, tomorrow is an unwritten day.
6. Keep learning
What books can you read or new skills could you learn? Education will inspire new ideas.
7. Stay Connected
We all need a community. Use a virtual tool like Zoom to connect with friends and family.
We Can Choose to Become Resilient
During life’s between moments,
We choose to thrive.
We choose faith over fear.
We choose to anchor our lives in truth.
We choose to be vulnerable and honest.
We choose to heal.
We can choose to become resilient.
Stay Resilient!
