Title: Find Your Brand’s Sweet Spot & Build a Magnetic Business
Host: Marisa Shadrick
The #1 Struggle for Online Entrepreneurs
There’s one struggle most online entrepreneurs face: getting traffic. In this episode, we’re going to walk through how to find your sweet spot—that intersection between what you’re good at and what the market truly needs (not just what you think it needs).
If you’re a beginner—or simply want to refresh your foundation—this episode will help you clarify your brand and message to attract the right audience.
Branding Isn’t Just a Logo
Branding isn’t about logos or color palettes. Branding is how people experience you.
It’s how they feel when they see your name, read your posts, or hear your voice. When you’re starting from scratch, your brand isn’t built by chance. It’s built with clarity—and that clarity becomes your message, your story, and your magnet for the right people.
Your Sweet Spot Starts with a Story
What made you start an online business? Think about your “inciting incident”—a turning point that led to this decision. This moment becomes the foundation of your brand story.
Your sweet spot is more than your skills. It’s where your purpose, talents, and your audience’s needs intersect.
5 Purpose Buckets That Drive Online Entrepreneurs
People start businesses for different reasons. Here are five common drivers:
- Creative-driven work (e.g., artists, designers, musicians)
- Belief-driven work (e.g., health advocates, mission-based coaches)
- Vision-driven work (e.g., non-profits, changemakers)
- Skills-driven work (e.g., service providers like copywriters, designers)
- Interest-driven work (e.g., hobbies turned business like Pokémon cards)
What drives you? Identifying this can clarify your messaging.
7 Questions to Validate Demand
Once your story and purpose are clear, ask:
- Is there evidence of past success for this idea?
- Is this a trend or something sustainable?
- Are prospects aware and actively searching for this?
- Will you serve B2B or B2C?
- Do they have the time and money to invest?
- Can you reach this market effectively?
- Will your offer reduce a struggle or worry they face?
The Value of Feeling Understood
“You don’t want the prospect to understand what you’re offering. You want the prospect to feel understood.”
This one shift changes everything. That’s the power of empathy in messaging.
Your value solution statement should clearly express:
- Who you are
- Who you help
- What you help them do
- What result they get
Example: “I’m Marisa Shadrick, an AI marketing strategist and certified copywriter. I help solo entrepreneurs create compelling content so they can attract clients with ease.”
6 Product Design Categories
Before building content, consider how you’ll deliver your solution. Here are six essential product elements:
- Product Model – One-on-one, small group, digital course, or hybrid
- Delivery Format – Live, video, audio, PDF
- Involvement Level – Done-for-you (DFY), Done-with-you (DWY), or Do-it-yourself (DIY)
- Speed & Convenience – How fast and how often?
- Support Level – Text, chat, email, Zoom, etc.
- End Result – What transformation will your client achieve?
Designing your offer with these in mind helps ensure it aligns with both your capacity and your audience’s needs.
